Our Advice On Finding the Perfect Spook-Tacular Pumpkin Labels
News 25 Aug 2022
Introduction
Farmers are currently preparing for the upcoming pumpkin season as pumpkins typically require around 3 months to reach maturity, depending on the variety. It won’t be long until the ripe pumpkins are ready for you to buy in various shapes, colours, and sizes. There’s only one big issue before pumpkins can be made available to purchase, pumpkin labels. Mysteriously, pumpkins are difficult to label due to various reasons:
- Pumpkins have a very uneven, thick textured skin
- How pumpkins are stored – for instance – with numerous other pumpkins
- The varying temperatures pumpkins are stored
- Pumpkin’s regular handling also makes the label adhesive a challenge, particularly as the label must stay in place and then be easily peeled off by the customer prior to consumption, carving or preparation
With all of this in mind, let us advise you on our recommended face, adhesive and liner label construction and why it is perfect for pumpkin labelling. After all, finding the perfect spook-tacular pumpkin label will be the least of your worries.
Face Material
Our MC-60 Foil is a semi-gloss paper-laminate construction which is perfect for labelling rough, contoured surfaces and where dead fold properties are important. This face material is used widely for metal detectable labels, in this instance, pumpkin labelling. This material is perfect for the food industry as they ensure products are not contaminated by fragments of materials during the production or packing process. Using our MC-60 foil face material you can also benefit from excellent print, be that thermal transfer flexo or litho.
The Adhesive
The adhesive we offer which is perfectly suited to adhering to rough, uneven pumpkin surfaces is SP8040. This adhesive is also ISEGA certified for direct contact with dry and non-fatty foods, offering the perfect components as an adhesive for pumpkin labelling.
Print & Design
As we manufacture bulk label stock for a wide range of customers, we can also help you by recommending a few label printers and converters to meet your print & design requirements. Our MC-60 Foil / SP8040 / HG6 construction offers printers with a variety of printing techniques as this can be printed using the following methods:
- Letterpress
- Flexographic – explained in this blog
- Litho press
- Thermal transfer via either printer & ribbon techniques – explained in this article
